Home

Central School Of Motor Transport, popularly known as CSMT was raised on 8th Jan 1963 vide government of India, ministry of home affairs order no. F-39/18/62-PV dated 8th Jan 1963. CSMT was initially established at Sagar (M.P.) under the supervision of M.P. police and it was taken over by BSF on first Jan 1971 and subsequently shifted to Gwalior. CSMT is only premier institute of its own kind in the country to centre for training of central as well as state police organizational personnel in the field of mechanical transport. Due to available existing infrastructural facilities and state of the art equipment, ministry of home affairs, Government of India has declared this institute as “Centre Of Excellence”.


In order to provide some help to the BSF personnel as a welfare measure, Diploma in Automobile Engineering was started at CSMT from academic session 1988-89 for wards of BSF personnel under affiliation of MP board of technical education Bhopal, vide letter no. 3033/4195/42-1/87 Dated 1-10-87 since all the infrastructure required for diploma in automobile engineering was already available with CSMT. Initially approved intake was 30 but now the intake is 60 per year.

 

The institute is approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal in respect of syllabi and examinations. Funds for recurring and non-recurring expenses are provided from
Central Education Fund maintained by BSF Head Quarter, New Delhi. The budget approved by Local Chairman is forwarded to FHQ normally in the month of February every year.
